CELEBRATING IMPROVED GCSE RESULTS FOR THE THIRD YEAR RUNNING

CELEBRATING IMPROVED GCSE RESULTS FOR THE THIRD YEAR RUNNING

Posted: 22nd August 2019

Students and staff at Epping St John’s Church of England School are today celebrating improved GCSE results for the third year running.

The school has seen 38 per cent of students collect strong passes of grade 5 or higher in both English and maths.

A total of 60 per cent of the cohort achieved the national standard pass of grade 4 or higher in the two key subjects.

In English, 75 per cent of students achieved grade 4 or higher, with 16 per cent collecting the top grades of 7 to 9. Last year, 12 per cent achieved grade 7 to 9 in the subject.

In maths, 64 per cent of students achieved grade 4 or higher, with 17 per cent collecting the top grades of 7 to 9. Last year, nine per cent achieved grade 7 to 9 in the subject.

Mike Yerosimou, head of school, said: “We couldn’t be happier to announce that, following last week’s excellent A-level results, we now have our best set of strong passes at GCSE ever.

“This is now a third concurrent year of improved results for Epping St John’s, with four per cent increase in strong passes in English and maths and 60% of students achieving passes.

“This is something we are exceptionally proud of and is a credit to both departments and our wonderful students. We have strengthened our maths department further for the new school year and are confident we have a team capable of delivering exceptional lessons and brilliant outcomes.

“We’ve said for a long time that Epping St John’s has limitless potential. The students deserve stable leadership and to be taught by the very best teachers. These results vindicate our vision and give us confidence that this school is improving very quickly, becoming the exceptional educational establishment that Epping deserves.”
