High Achieving Pupils (HAPs)
Our HAP provision is currently re-energising the importance of stretch and challenge throughout the school and some exciting new programmes were launched last year to encourgage our High Ability Pupils (HAPs) to raise their aspirations.
Some of the upcoming projects running this year include:
The League of ESJ
In September of each year, a specially selected group of Year 7, 8 and 9 students will enter into team competition to received rewards and plaudits around the school. The teams will be a mixture of every year group and points are earned through academic performance, community involvement and environmental awareness. The aim of the league is to create socially conscious citizens amongst each year group and drive performance in all aspects of the ‘players’ lives.
Higher Project Qualification (HPQ)
Students in Years 10 and 11 are encouraged to participate in completing a HPQ (Higher Project Qualification). Under Mr Tooze’s guidance, students can complete a study or investigation into any area they wish. This is an accredited externally examined piece of work by an exam board and will go towards their final Year 11 outcomes.
