A-level results day has marked an important milestone for students at Epping St John’s Church of England School, as they received the grades they have worked towards throughout their sixth form studies.

The cohort is now preparing to take the next steps in their individual journeys, with students progressing to a diverse range of destinations including university courses, apprenticeships and other opportunities.

The results reflect the varied interests and ambitions of this year’s students, with examples of their results and next steps including:
 

• Alex Aronica — Biology A*, Chemistry A*, Maths A*, EPQ A* (AAAA) — achieved his results and will now study Medicine at Cambridge.
   
• Maria Novikova — Psychology A, Spanish A, Law A, Politics B (A A A B) — received her results and will now study International Relations at SOAS.
   
• Charlie Bowman — Economics A*, Geography A*, Maths A (A* A* A) — achieved his results and will now study Economics at Leeds.
   
• Harry Blair — Law A*, Business A, English Literature A, EPQ A (A* A A A) — received his results and will now study English at Cambridge or UCL.
   
• Izzy Lavery — EPQ A*, Geography A*, Biology A, History A (A* A* A A) — achieved her results and will now begin a degree apprenticeship with Bank of America.
   
• George Tyson — Business, BTEC (DDD) — received his results and will now begin an apprenticeship with William Rose Agents.
   
• Freya Warren — Business A, Economics A, Geography A (A A A) — achieved her results and will now take a gap year in Australia.
   
• Jack Deverrick — Business A, Economics A (+ BTEC Distinction) — received his results and will now begin a degree apprenticeship.
   
• Jake Morris — Economics A, Maths A, EPQ A (+ BTEC Distinction) — achieved his results and will now study Physiotherapy at Leicester.
   
• Tom Padian — Business, BTEC Extended Diploma (DDD) — received his results and will now study Business at Manchester Metropolitan University.
   
• Harrison Parrott — Business, BTEC Extended Diploma (DDD) — achieved his results and will now begin an apprenticeship.
   
• Toby Trevett — Business, BTEC Extended Diploma (DDD) — received his results and will now begin an apprenticeship.
   
• Ollie Griffiths — A*A*A*A* — received his results and will now study Mechanical Engineering at University of Manchester.

 

Vincent Omilli, Head of School and Flora Christofi, Head of Sixth Form at Epping St John’s, said: “We could not be prouder of our students this year. They have worked incredibly hard, shown real determination and thoroughly deserve the results they have achieved.

Among this year’s successes, two students have secured places at the University of Cambridge to study Medicine and English respectively. They join a wide group of students progressing to universities, apprenticeships, employment and other destinations of their choice.

The number of students achieving the top A*-A grades has risen for another year, reflecting both the commitment of our students and the quality of support they have received from staff. At a time when young people are entering an increasingly competitive and fast-changing world, it is more important than ever that schools open doors and give students the knowledge, confidence and opportunities to choose their own path. We are proud of the part ESJ has played in making that possible for this year’s students.
