Head of Sixth Form Welcome
ALPS Diamond award winner: Top 1% in the country for pupils progress.
Choosing your Sixth Form is one of the most important decisions you will make and at Epping St John’s we do not take that lightly. From the moment you begin considering your options, we are here to support you. We offer guidance, answering your questions and helping you choose the courses and pathway that are right for you. Rooted in our Christian values, our Sixth Form is a community in which every student is known, valued and encouraged to achieve their very best, combining high aspirations with genuine care.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection recognised that students in our Sixth Form make better progress than their peers nationally and this was reflected in our A Level and BTEC results this summer, with 33% of students achieving A*–A grades. Our students progress to some of the most competitive destinations in the country, including places at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge and highly competitive courses such as Medicine. Others secure prestigious degree apprenticeships, gaining a degree alongside valuable professional experience with leading employers. Whatever your ambitions, you will receive the guidance and support you need to take your next step with confidence.
We offer a supportive transition for students continuing with us from Year 11 and a warm welcome to those joining from other schools, who quickly become a valued part of our community. With 28 A Level and vocational subjects available, students can build a programme suited to their strengths and future plans, complemented by a broad enrichment and extra-curricular offer that develops confident, resilient and ambitious young adults.
Our Sixth Form students play a central role in the life of the school. They act as mentors and reading mentors to younger students, run clubs, support in lessons and lead events across the school. These responsibilities provide inspiring role models for younger year groups while giving our Sixth Formers valuable experience of leadership and service that will serve them well in later life.
We would love to welcome you to Epping St John’s Sixth Form. Come and visit us, talk to our students about their experiences, meet the teachers who will support you and see for yourself the warm, ambitious community that makes our Sixth Form so special. The next two years are a chance to discover what you are capable of and we would be delighted to share that journey with you.
