Our February half term aspiration programme was extremely well received by students today but it wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic team of staff giving up time to run the sessions. Our Easter programme will be launched this Friday!

Mr Tooze is currently re-energising the importance of ‘Stretch and Challenge’ throughout the school and some exciting new programmes will take off this year.  We believe challenging students at all levels is important, but also giving students the aspiration to achieve the best they possibly can is imperative. Some of the up-coming projects include:

The Twenty-Tooze

This will be an ongoing project designed to target the 22 most able students in Year 11; offering them guidance, support, challenge and independence in all areas of their lives.

The 22 will, in return, be responsible for disseminating their knowledge and findings to all students to help boost performance across the school.  For example, a fortnightly newsletter reviewing revision techniques will be given to students in all year groups.

The HPQ

Students in Years 10 and 11 are encouraged to participate in completing a HPQ (Higher Project Qualification).  Under Mr Tooze’s guidance, students can complete a study or investigation into any area they wish.  This is an accredited externally examined piece of work by an exam board and will go towards their final Year 11 outcomes.

The League of ESJ

In January of each year, a specially selected group of Year 7, 8 and 9 students will enter into team competition to received rewards and plaudits around the school.  The teams will be a mixture of every year group and points are earned through academic performance, community involvement and environmental awareness.  The aim of the league is to create socially conscious citizens amongst each year group and drive performance in all aspects of the ‘players’ lives.

Other Up-Coming Events

  • Mock Interviews
  • Author Visits
  • Guest Speakers
  • University Trips
  • Debate Clubs
  • Quiz Nights/Afternoons
  • Dragon’s Den
  • Bake Off
  • Competitions
  • Sports Leaders
  • Inspiration Week
  • And many many more.
