Travel and Tourism BTEC
Choosing to study for a BTEC Level 3 National Travel and Tourism qualification is a great decision to make for lots of reasons. The travel and tourism sector is dynamic, exciting and provides a challenging working environment. If you are reading this book, it is likely that you are considering a career in travel and tourism and that you are beginning your studies of the sector. This unit aims to give you a sound introduction to travel and tourism so that you gain an overview of the various components and how they link together. You will also study the roles and responsibilities of travel and tourism organisations within the sector. You will learn about the development of travel and tourism, particularly from the 1960s to the present day. You will find out how changes in demand, new travel and tourism products and changes in the distribution of products have affected the sector. You will also look at the factors which currently affect the travel and tourism sector and the effects on development.

How will you be assessed?
This unit will be assessed by one or more internal assignments that will be designed and marked by your tutor. Your assignments will be subject to sampling internally and externally as part of Edexcel’s quality assurance procedures. The assignments are designed to allow you to show your knowledge and understanding related to the unit. The unit outcomes indicate what you should know, understand or be able to do after completing the unit.
