Red Nose Day - Friday 15th March

Re: Comic Relief – Red Nose Day
As you may already know, Red Nose Day is taking place on Friday March 15th 2019. Epping St. John’s is excited to be joining with many other schools around the UK to participate in the fundraising programme.
What is Red Nose Day?
Red Nose Day is a fundraising event run by Comic Relief that takes places every two years.
Comic Relief is a UK charity, which aims to create a just world free from poverty.
Last Red Nose Day, schools and nurseries across the UK raised over £5 million to help vulnerable people here and in the world’s poorest communities.
Why we are taking part ?
Pupils learn valuable life skills and gain understanding and empathy for others in the world.
It brings the whole school community together.
Our school can really make a difference to people’s lives.
Where the money goes
£3 could pay for crayons, pencils, paint and paper for children living in a Serbian refugee camp.
£10 could cover the cost of 10 hot meals for a homeless person in the UK.
On Friday 15th March, there will be a non-uniform day for students. Students will pay £1 to support Red Nose Day. We are asking students to wear non-school uniform that is appropriate for learning and follow the spirit of the ESJ Behaviour and Rewards Policy.
We have very clear guidelines in regards to appropriate dress on non-uniform days. If your child does not follow the guidelines they will be asked to change into school uniform and given an appropriate consequence. Please note that the usual rules apply for non-uniform day:
ï· Sensible shoes are important – no high heels, beach wear or open top shoes.
ï· Clothes must be backed, shoulders and midriff covered.
ï· No offensive or rude words must be seen on any part of their clothing.
ï· No short skirts/shorts nor ripped jeans (this includes small rips in jeans).
ï· Normal school rules regarding make-up, nail varnish, jewellery and extreme hair colouring/extreme hair styles.
It will be the final decision of the Executive Headteacher what constitutes appropriate dress. The guidance in the Behaviour and Rewards Policy will be followed if consequences need to be applied.

This is where we need your help! You can help us make this a memorable event that raises as much money as possible, by bringing in some extra money to support the fundraising activities in our school. You can also make a donation via Parent Pay if you wish. Let’s make a big difference to the lives of children in the UK.
