Students compete for house points

Students compete for house points

Posted: 1st December 2020

Young people are taking on a wide range of challenges to bring them together as a community.

Students in all year groups at Epping St John’s Church of England School are taking part in competitions to earn house points.

The school’s six houses – Adams, Barker, Hurley, Joyce, Sparks and Wright – compete in various competitions and via their attendance to be in with a chance of winning a prize each term.

The system has been relaunched with competitions set by each department to ensure every student can compete in their favourite subject or interest.

So far, competitions have focused on mental health and pumpkin carving.

A cup is awarded each term to the winning house in each year, as well as an overall house cup for the winner.

James Fitten, maths teacher, said: “The house competitions are a great chance for the houses to work together, both in year groups and across the whole school.

“Living well together is one of the school’s drivers and this helps to support that and enables all students to get involved.”

Staff are also taking part and helping students to win points for their houses.
